Lutheran Belief
With the universal Christian Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church (a member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod) teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: God the Father and Creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became human in order to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in an eternal victory over death and Satan; and God the Holy Spirit, who creates faith in us through God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Being "Lutheran"
Our congregations accept and teach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone. Find out more by clicking here and here.
Being "Sacramental"
Lutherans believe that Jesus Christ has given to His Church numerous gifts: the gift of His Holy Spirit, the gift of faith to believe in Him, and the gift of the forgiveness of sins. These are given through the sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord's Supper. The sacraments are the means of God's grace, that is, they are the way in which God brings His divine gifts to His people. Because Jesus has given these sacramental gifts to us, we are sacramental in our faith. We believe God works salvation through them on account of Christ.
Who is Jesus?
In the Bible we have the record of Jesus' birth, life, death on the cross, resurrection from the dead, ascension to heaven and promised return on the Last Day. Through the study of Scripture, you can seek the answer to the age-old question, "Who is Jesus?" At Redeemer, we preach, live and find salvation in Jesus Christ, God's only Son. What does "Synod" mean?
The word "Synod" in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod comes from Greek words that mean "walking together." What this means is that Redeemer Lutheran is connected with over 6,000 other Lutheran congregations throughout the United States and many more across the world! Though diverse in their service, our congregations hold to a shared confession of Jesus Christ as taught in Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions.
